David Mansell is our Business Taxes Partner, based principally in our Northampton office.

David is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, who specialises in working closely with business owners and managers and their companies and in finding tax efficient solutions to the issues facing them.

He has a broad range of experience in advising on such matters as succession planning, employee retention and incentivisation, business acquisitions and disposals, business structuring, and company and group re-organisations. He is acutely aware that the issues facing clients at all stages of their business cycle are rarely confined to taxation and that the solutions he finds must not only address the tax issues but also tie in with the business’ wider commercial needs and aspirations.

A graduate of Cambridge University David spent twelve years with Midland Bank (now part of HSBC) in a range of lending and marketing management roles, before training with KPMG. Prior to joining Mercer & Hole, David was a director with Tenon Limited and a partner with Mazars LLP.

During his time at Mazars, he was a member of the firm’s National Tax Investigations Group, which dealt with the full range of HM Revenue & Customs’ investigations, from local enquiries to full-scale, in depth investigations and helped to formulate the firm’s strategy on such matters as the recent Offshore Disclosure facility.

Married with two daughters, much of David’s time away from the office is taken up as a taxi service to the younger members of the family but he finds time to enjoy the finer things in the footballing world, as a season ticket holder at Arsenal.
